OnApplied Announces Search-Able Document Archive Service

Service provides packaging of digital documents into an offline archive with full-text search capabilities accessible from a web browser.

October 1, 2009 10:00 CDT

OAKDALE, Minn. – OnApplied has launched a new service offering for businesses that need to capture their project or product document files (PDF, TXT, HTML, etc.) into a digital archive format with full-text search capabilities suitable for burning onto CD-ROMs, DVDs, or for upload to the web.

The service is especially well suited for design professionals that need to hand-off their project and drawing documentation to their customers in a published form with the added functionality of full-text search capabilities from an offline web browser without the need to install additional software. It is also well suited for organizations that need to publish extensive reference documentation or provide libraries of sales literature to potential customers or distributors.

A unique aspect of the service is that archive package files can be accessed with full-text search capabilities from any operating system that supports a modern web browser with Javascript enabled. This includes operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Unix running web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and many others. “Generally, if you can successfully browse the Internet today, then you're already set-up to read our archive packages,” stated a support representative. Optional non-web digital formats can also be included in the archives, provided that targeted end users have suitable file viewers enabled for the specialized file types.

OnApplied Announces Legacy 3D Model Conversion Service

Service provides conversion of legacy 3D PASCE models into modern CAD file formats as reference objects for retrofit designs or for design walk-through reviews.

October 6, 2008 08:15 CDT

OAKDALE, Minn. -- OnApplied has launched a new service offering for businesses that use the legacy PASCE 3D modeler to convert PlantVIEW "wfile" output into modern CAD file formats, such as dwg or dwf.

Early adopters have used the service to convert their process plant designs into AutoDesk's 3D DWF file format. This enables them to share their work-in-progress with their customers for design review purposes by using modern applications such as NavisWorks Freedom, a free walk-through application from AutoDesk.

"I haven't been this excited in ten years!" exclaimed one client. "This service -- combined with readily available CAD review software -- allows us to share our designs with the entire project team and get early feedback on how well we are meeting customer requirements."

The service also offers optional insertion of external 3D reference models -- such as construction workers or transportation equipment -- to provide walk-through review users with familiar objects to create a realistic sense of scale.
